What does a Power Supply do ?
It converts the 230V alternative current (AC) into 3,3V - 5,5V and 12V Direct Current (DC, Continuous Current).
What are the main caracteristics of a Power Supply ?
- Power (Wattage)
Make sure that the Power Supply has enough power for your current system and future upgrades.
- ATX Version. (Form Factor)
The ATX Form Factor is the most common PSU standard used today.
Intel ATX 1.3 version was released in 2003. New versions bring more
performance, stability and security for the users.
Intel ATX 2.01 version in 2004.
Intel ATX 2.2 version in 2005.
- Cooling (Fan and Heat Sinks)
The air flow generated by the fan(s) installed in the PSU is cooling
the Power Supply itself and the rest of the case.
- Connectors
